Moonevil Den

Moonevil Den is the eighth multi-player "dungeon," for level 60-65 characters. As with all the higher-level multi-player dungeons, teamwork, with everybody doing his job, is critical to defeating the final boss.

You will need a well-coordinated party for Moonevil Den. Bring at least one mage with a good set of healing skills, and an archer who can shoot both Freeze arrrows and Scattershot.

The ants cause major bleeding on every turn so just try to keep ahead with healing. Once the ants are dead, use Purificattion to stop their bleeds.

The mosquitos do not cause bleeding, so use them to build rage, but do murder the ants as fast as you can.

The second sub-boss is a quest all by itself. It's a mosquito that repeatedly summons ant minions. Save AOE attacks to use when the minions show up. Mage should cast Purify as soon as the ants are defeated to stop bleeding.

The boss for this dungeon is a nearly naked babe named Uratis, the Moonevil Queen. She's riding on an insectile monster that periodically shoots death beams.

Moondevil Den Walk-Through

Here's a guided tour of the Moonevil Den Nature Trail, with notes about how I play it as a mage.

  1. Mage configured with:
    1. Rain of Fire (RoF replaces Restore from my normal healing set.)
    2. Lightning Bolt
    3. Suntoria
    4. Blessed Light
    5. Purification

    Archer configured with:
    1. Freeze
    2. Scattershot
    3. Armor Piercer (The Potency talent is great with this.)

  2. 1st group of 4 ants. (Use RoF to help kill 'em fast so nobody bleeds out. When attacking a group of four, you break even on rage.)

  3. 2nd group of 4 ants. (Ditto.)

  4. After the ants, turn left (go toward the top right) to get Traveler's Coin Purse.

  5. Coming back from the Coin Purse, go straight across the plaza and down the steps.

  6. 3rd group of 4 ants.

  7. Past the ants is a Treasure Chest. Costs 4000 gold to open, and has a perverse habit of giving you 4000 gold back.

  8. Go back up the up the steps from the Treasure Chest, turn right (toward bottom right) to get to the 1st sub-boss, Toros.

  9. Toros is a mosquito that summons sets of 4 ants. He can be even harder than the main boss. Mages, use Suntoria to start and keep it going. Use your aoe attacks to get rid of those ants fast; they cause major bleeding. Don't try to use Purification to stop the bleeding until the ants have done their last attack; but then, DO stop the bleeding so that your party doesn't bleed out. The party will recover hp from Suntoria before Toros summons another set of ants.

  10. After you've defeated Toros, go straight past where he was to the teleporter.

  11. Next is a set of 4 mosquitos, no ants. Build rage with them; don't use aoe attacks on mosquitos.

  12. Moonevil Grave is defended by a mixed group of ants and mosquitos. Blast the ants. The mosquitos will probably survive after the ants are gone, so then you can relax and build up some rage.

Everybody gets a turn at Moonevil Grave. You get either daru or monsters.

  13. Coming back from Moonevil Grave, go staight across the plaza and down the ramp to the Moonevil General, Uranas. Do the General first, before you do Lair, for rage management. It's hard to finish the General with 100 rage, but you can probably finish Lair with rage full up.

  14. The Moonevil General, Uranas, the 2nd sub-boss, is just big ugly ant kinda thing, no minions, no bleeds. (Just ignore childish jokes about his name.) His bad thing is he keeps powering up until he can wipe our your whole party with one swipe. This fight is just a slugfest; nothing tricky needed to win, except Kill Him Fast! If he gets to his second power-up, his PATK goes to 400%. At that level, if he does his big swipe, he can wipe out an entire party of level 65 players with one blow.

Archers should use Freeze on the General. Scattershot doesn't work on him.

  15. Back up the ramp and then toward the southeast to battle a group of 4 mosquitos. Build rage on them; don't use aoe attacks.

  16. Moonevil Lair is home to monsters that appear in 3 waves:
    1. 4 ants (Kill them fast and use Purification to stop the bleeding afterwards.)
    2. 4 mosquitos (Use them to rebuild rage.)
    3. 3 ants + 3 mosquitos (Blast until the ants are gone.)

  17. After Moonevil Lair, back toward the central plaza and down the ramp (past where Uranas was) to the teleport.

  18. Pandora's Box is at the other end of the teleport. Use it. Within our experience, Pandora is always kind and generous here.

  19. There's one group of ants + mosquitos left to do. Build rage on them so you're ready for the boss.

  20. Tell the party to wait for reconfiguration before attacking the boss. Mages can replace Rain of Fire with Restore again. I've found that often only one party member will be way down on hp while Blessed Light is still counting down, so Restore can come in really handy during the boss fight.

  21. When the party is ready for the boss, you have a choice: You can either be mesmerized by her sexy little dance, or you can blast her to smithereens using the instructions in the next section.

How to Beat the Boss

Archers and mages need to stick with the plan. Expending rage on flashy attacks will kill you.

Before you attack the final boss, check:

  1. Everybody has healing runes equipped.

  2. Mages have heal set loaded, especially Blessed Light. Also equip rage runes if you have them.

  3. Archers must be prepared to shoot Freeze arrows and Scattershot.

The mages' job is to keep the rest of the party alive. The archer's job is to debuff and freeze Uratis so that the mage can keep up.

The mage should open with Suntoria. Resist the temptation to use massive attacks; you'll need your rage for healing.

The boss does her light beam attack twice in a row, so the mage should wait until the second light beam to use Blessed Light. If the archer's Scattershot is timed right, the light beam attack will be so wimpy that you might not need to use Blessed Light at all. You might want to cast it anyway so that it can count down before her next light beam attacks, and because it gives 10 rage to every member of the party.

We had reports the boss casts bleed spells faster than Purification can count down; however, our experience doesn't support that observation.

Don't get discouraged. If everyone does his job correctly, and is strong enough to survive the boss's light beam attack long enough for Blessed Light to fix up everybody, you'll win!
