Tarraton's Lair

Tarraton's Lair is the eight multi-player "dungeon," for level 55-60 characters. Good news: Within our experience, Tarraton's Lair is actually easier than Garden of Death once you've figured it out; and we've figured it out for you!

The easiest team for Tarraton's Lair will include two mages, one to cast Purification and one to cast Blessed Light; however, we've found that one mage with both Purification and Blessed Light will work just fine.

The first sub-boss, Farak, is a quest item all by himself.

If the party's level isn't very high, the mage might want to stay in healing mode throughout the whole dungeon and use Suntoria on most of the early battles. Even the groups of little guys hit pretty hard. Once you've powered up a bit, the little guys are just convenient rage-builders.

This party made it easy. Sodo only used his major breath weapon once; we killed him before he could use it again.

The basic strategy for this boss is to hack away at him, with the mage (or mages) prepared to cast Purify and Blessed Light when the boss does his major breath attack.

Before you attack the final boss, check:

  1. Mages have heal set loaded. One assigned to cast Purification, the other to cast Blessed Light; or one mage with both.

The mages' job is to keep the rest of the party alive. (Here, archers can just blast away.) The mage should open with Suntoria, then just do lightning until the boss does his big breath attack. Then cast Purification and Blessed Light, in that order.

Mages should resist the temptation to use massive attacks; you'll need your rage for healing. With a lower-level party, around level 56, you'll have about 4 rounds of lightning to build rage. With a very strong party, near level 60, you might get only 2 lightning strikes off.

The archer's Scattershot is excellent for clearing out the boss's postive buffs, making him really easy to kill. Since the boss does little damage except the occasional breath attack, the archer won't need Freeze for this one.

Knights should use their bubbles to reduce the amount of damage they take, to save the mage from having to expend rage to heal them.

Sodo, the tarraton, has no minions.

We've run Tarraton's Lair with just one mage several times, and it works. Since the boss just stands there, doing only small damage between breath attacks, it is sufficient for the mage to wait a turn before casting Blessed Light.

The mage will need to have at least 80 rage before Sodo's big attack: 20 for Purification and 60 for Blessed Light. There should be plenty of time to rebuild rage for this, even after opening with Suntoria.

Don't get discouraged. If everyone does his job correctly, you'll win!
